By Donation For Leadership Services

Frequently asked question about the By-Donation approach to leadership services:

1. How does the By-Donation payment approach work? First, services will be defined, and then a contract for those services will be negotiated. The contract will identify payment dates during the life of the contract. When each payment date arrives, you will decide the amount that you are going to pay for the service you have received. Once you have decided, you go to the donation page and you will use PayPal to donate 50% of the total payment to Terrill Welch – A Woman Behind Women, and the other 50% to one or more of the charities or fundraising efforts listed on that page.

2. What if I don’t want to make payments over the internet? A cheque (or money order – if you are sending it from outside Canada) can be sent through the mail instead of making on-line payments.

3. I have no idea what the market value is for the services I want receive, so how can I determine how much to pay? The executive leadership services being offered (including executive coaching, consulting, mentoring, and organizational development) have a market value of about $300 an hour in North America. You could also get an estimate from another leadership service provider, for comparison. It has been my experience over the past five years of business that individuals and organizations are fair when they negotiate payment for my services, choosing payment contributions that they can afford for access to quality executive leadership services. Whatever you decide will be PERFECT!

4. Are all fees covered by the By-Donation payment approach? Coaching, mentoring, consulting, and facilitating time are covered. Hard costs for travel, materials, or any additional assessments are not covered as part of the By-Donation payment approach. If when services are discussed additional costs are anticipated they will be identified in the contract and there will be no surprises.

5. What if I do not support any of the charities or fundraising efforts listed? If after reviewing the following criteria for the selection of charities or fundraising efforts you are still committed to supporting another charity please feel free to discuss this as an option. The charities and fundraising efforts have been carefully selected using all of the following criteria:

• Donations will directly support efforts to advance of women’s equality
• Tangible support within the organization for the development of women’s leadership capacity
• Investment in environmental sustainability business practices
• Demonstrated organization participation in local community
• A commitment to the By-Donation vision for social change

6. How will the effectiveness of the 50% of payment as donation be measured? With each donation, you will be asked to identify which charity or fundraising effort you supported so that the benefit of the By-Donation approach for participating organization can be determined.

7. Will I receive a tax benefit receipt? Yes if the charity is a registered charity and you meet their donation requirements they will send you a receipt. The donations are made by you directly to the charity so the process for receiving the receipt will be identified when you make your donation.

8. Why have you chosen some registered charities and some non-registered fundraising efforts? Registered charity status is decided by strict government criteria. Sometimes a group of people get together to create social change and their efforts will not qualify for charity status. However, the benefit to the larger public is significant and warrants our support.

9. Can a donation be made to more than one of the charities or fundraising efforts listed? Yes – as long as the total of the donations adds up to 50% of the total payment you have decided to pay.

10. When will the first By-Donation payment need to be made? Each contract will request a small payment at the beginning of the contract to signify good-faith, a commitment to the contract, and to ensure that you are familiar with how the payment system works. This amount is applied to your first session or hour of service.

11. What if I have no money at all to donate, can I still access these services? A very small number of services will continue to be provided pro-bono. 12. How can a person make a living offering services with this By-Donation approach? I have a wide range of clients, including those for whom the market rate is fully affordable, and this will help me to be able to provide services for those with fewer financial resources. In addition, by providing high quality services in a manner that more women leaders can access, referral and repeat business is anticipated to reduce the need for expensive marketing and sales costs.

13. Why are you offering elite leadership services to women leaders by donation? The philosophy and story behind offering service by donation allows me to be generous with others and to act every day on my vision for women’s equality. Terrill's story...

14. How do I know if I am ready to engage leadership services? The best way to determine your readiness is through an introductory coaching session to assess your goals and service needs. Please contact me directly at 250-539-5887 or email tawelch@shaw.ca.

15. How do I know if I am a leader? Being a leader doesn’t just mean being the CEO of a large corporate company. No matter what your position is in an organization or how small your business or organization is, if you have a vision and want to see it become a reality then you are a leader and I encourage you to explore what leadership services will help you actualize that vision.

16. What if I decide to receive services but I am not completely satisfied with the services I receive? Each contract will include a service quality guarantee. Generally, this will be a full refund of your total payments (including the donation portion) if, after the first three times you access services, you are not completely satisfied. Also all contracts can be ended by the client, without penalty, at any time during the life of the contract.

17. Will all the By-Donation leadership services be provided by you? The demand for these services is anticipated to exceed the time I have available. Over time other providers may be contracted to provide leadership services on behalf of Terrill Welch – A Woman Behind Women. These partners will be selected for their knowledge, expertise and quality of service to women leaders. They will be committed to the By-Donation philosophy and practice.
